Osizweni Education and Development Centre was established in 1991 and is a Sasol sponsored initiative.
Osizweni aspires to support teaching and learning of Mathematics, Science and Technology (MST) across all life stages.
Osizweni History
Since its inception, the centre has implemented a wide range of education programs to Early Learning Centres, schools and also offered training to educators and the general public in the Gert Sibande Region of Mpumalanga and beyond.
Osizweni focused on skills training such as welding, woodwork and catering from 1991 to 1999. Later in 1999 Osizweni began with Adult Basic Education Training (ABET) and Early Childhood development as well as programs for schools and educators
Since 2005 the centre has fully evolved into the province's premier science and mathematics centre of excellence. Osizweni has adopted a multi-pronged approach that targets teachers, learners, university students and the general public, which ensures that its high quality intervention through the more than 10 educational programs and projects is implemented with surgical precision.
Osizweni Vision
We want to be an Education and Development Centre of excellence, recognized as leader in Mathematics, Science and Technology
Osizweni Mission
Our Centre strives to support sustainable development of people across all life stages through focused education programs
Osizweni Aim
The ultimate aim of the centre is to become South Africa's next best science centre that is responsive to the educational needs of communities in its neighbourhood
I commend Osizweni for the hard work they do as approximately
15 000 learners benefit from the projects,
initiatives and classes offered on an annual basis. I also congratulate Osizweni again on taking this
information a step further by making it available to all relevant stakeholders by the launch of your easy
to understand and navigate website.
I encourage all the learners and educators to make use of the resources made available to you at your schools and resource centres to explore the Osizweni website in order to gain more understanding of what programs you can get involved in.
Thank You
